The millers will buy maize at prices above $310 per tonne.
They are also in talks with the Grain Marketing Board to utilize its infrustrure throughout the country for the purposes of reaching “as many farmers as possible during the buying period”.
More than 200 collection points are to be set up.
The millers are also talking to seed houses so that the collection points are also used “as selling points to bring inputs closer to farmers ahead of the 2014 – 15 agricultural season”.
